MAKE A DONATION!
Hi all!
Anna here. One of the hardest parts about getting into ceramics is access to equipment. I've made pots on tiny wheels with nowhere to fire them. I've lugged pieces onto public transit in pursuit of a kiln and I've pit-fired pottery in my dad's backyard. When I was finally able to purchase my first kiln in 2021 it became my mission to make pottery accessible to as many people as possible.
Last summer, I began transforming my garage into a community clay space. We demoed the interior, added plumbing and electrical, put in windows, a sliding door, and more. In July, I hosted a work party and so many of you showed up to help bring this dream to life. You built shelves, painted walls and even gardened! I can't thank you enough for all of your support and enthusiasm.
As of August 1st, the studio kiln has officially arrived, and Ypsi Clay House is one huge step closer opening! One of my greatest hopes is to be able to offer wheel-throwing classes in addition to hand-building classes. The wheel is exciting, empowering and definitely humbling. New wheels typically range from $1,000-$2,500 and when available, they go for about $500-$1,000 used. My goal is to raise between $3,000 and $6,000 to purchase 6 pottery wheels. Any contribution you're able to make is greatly appreciated!
Thank you for taking the time to read this message and for supporting artists in Ypsi. And be sure to come by and check out some discounted pottery at our Seconds Sale Fundraiser!
With care,
Anna
As of September 12, 2025 we’ve raised $980!
